Okay. It’s been a week since the accident, and I’m no longer questioning humanity. Ha, well, actually I am, but I’m not feeling so down and depressed about it all. The initial shock has worn off and I’ve seen my doctor and a Physical Therapist, and I’m in a much happier state of mind.

For starters, I do not have the back issues my doctor told me I had. I freaked out a bit when he told me he thought the accident may have caused a herniated disc that required PT (I called off work after that appointment because I was so shaken up about it) but it turns out the pain is just from some badly injured tissue between my pelvic joint and the spine. I’ve been cleared to start running and lifting weights (both lightly, to ease back into it). He also recommended I take up swimming and yoga or pilates, which won’t be a problem since I like those. I did my first run last night and I’m feeling much better! Slept like a ROCK for the first time in a while. I’ve cut back on the ibuprofen consumption since I don’t feel like it’s needed, which is, I think, a good thing since I was told to take 9 – 9! – pills a day to cover the pain. I took some this  morning (just 2 pills) and I’ll see how I feel before bed. Maybe another 2, but I think 4 is a much healthier amount than 9.

I do have one more PT appointment scheduled just to work out some of the kinks of this damn hip/spine/tissue issue, but then we’ll see how much more is needed. I’ve decided I love PT, but if it’s not “needed” then the insurance likely won’t cover it, and I don’t think I can afford weekly PT. Even if he does give me massages.

Thank you all for your kind words of support from the last post! They really made me feel better about everything. I don’t understand how someone falsifies an insurance card, and I’ll be calling the police now for just about every minor fender bender I happen into in the future (which hopefully will be NONE) since apparently this is a problem. No, seriously, my state has the highest rate of uninsured drivers or something like that, and I’ve heard a ton of stories of people in similar situations. My insurance company has been amazing thus far too. Hopefully they stay amazing….(I’m sure they will).

I took this week off from my softball team, since twisting is a bit tricky for me, but I’m sure I’ll be ready to go next week and for the tournament.

Now, on to writing more posts! I’ve recently figured out how to properly schedule posts, so maybe I’ll post more? Don’t get your hopes up :)
